Exploring Key Learnings from Recent AIHA Initiatives to Improve our Exposure Risk Assessment and Management Programs
AIHA has launched four initiatives aimed at advancing our science and practice in support of our efforts to more effectively and efficiently protect workers: Defining the Science is a joint initiative with ACGIH to advance our science in ways that best support practitioners. Improving Exposure Judgements, another AIHA-ACGIH partnership, aims to accelerate the use of IH statistical and other tools to improve the accuracy of worker exposure assessments. Principles of Good Practice is defining concise guidance on practices that effectively and efficiently manage workplace hazards/risks to ensure worker protection. Finally, State of the Art vs. Practice is a continuous improvement strategy to understand and close gaps between current practices and state of the art.
Early results from these four initiatives offer tremendous insight for improving our exposure risk assessment and management practices, as that has been the focus of most of the initial efforts. Join us as we explore those learnings, the opportunities identified for improving our practices, and the free resources and tools available from AIHA to support us in our efforts.
Instructional Methods: lecture, discussion, group activities, practice exercises.
Learning Outcomes:
Prerequisite: Attendees must bring a laptop computer for exploring the free resources and tools.
